Conferences and Conventions

Leadership Development Conference (LDC)

Next Up:  April 18 - 19, 2008
Leadership Development Conference is usually held in late April and is the first conference of the new administrative year after club and district officersare elected.  This conference is designed to educate and train officers in their positions and help them to develop their leadership skills.  General members who are interested in taking on a leadership role in the future or just want to improve their leadership skills are encouraged to attend this conference.  LDC is also an opportunity for members to meet the District Board and learn about their goals for the year.  LDC normally consists of officer educational and training workshops and service workshops.

Membership Education Rally (MER)
Last Happened:  November 9 - 11, 2007
Membership Education Rally is held each year in either October or November after clubs have had a chance to induct new members.  The primary focus of MER is educating new and prospective members about Circle K.  Educational workshops and service workshops are held throughout the conference as well as self- and team-building exercises.  These workshops are hosted by members of the District Board of Officers and other experienced Circle K members and facilitators.

Y'all Conference
Last Happened:  January 18 - 20, 2008
The Y'all Conference is mainly a social conference held each Martin Luther King, Jr. weekend in January.  This conference was created by the Alabama, Georgia, and Carolinas districts so the conference usually rotates among these districts.  Normally, the Y'all Conference features some team-building exercises and offers many opportunities for fellowship.  Circle K members from all over the Southeast and other parts of the US come together and have fun as only Circle K'ers can!  This is certainly a conference that you don't want to miss.

District Convention (DCON)
Last Happened:  March 14 - 16, 2008 - Click here for more information!
District Convention is held each year in the spring shortly after club officers are elected.  It is similar to International Convention, but on a much smaller scale.  As the name suggests, Circle K members of the Alabama District gather to celebrate the accomplishments of the past year and elect a new District Board of Officers.  As with International Convention, there are awards, social opportunities, and various workshops in which members can participate.  District Convention is a formal conference because the "business" of Circle K is decided upon at this conference, such as amendments to the bylaws and the election of the new District Board.

Large-Scale Service Project (LSSP)
Large-Scale Service Project is held each summer as a precursor to International Convention.  LSSP is a relatively new concept that brings Circle K'ers together from all over the world to do service on a much larger scale, hence the name.  Its five-day format consists of one travel day, three service days, and one "fellowship" day.  The location is usually in the same city as International Convention.

International Convention (ICON)
Next Up:  August 6 - 9, 2008 - Click here for more information.
International Convention is basically the larger version of DCON.  It is usually held in August after LSSP.  This conference is the largest conference that Circle K has because it involves members from all over the world.  This conference allows all of the different districts to come together and celebrate their accomplishments of the year.  ICON offers a chance for districts and clubs to apply for awards and compete in competitions.  During ICON, caucus rounds are held, and the new International Board of Officers is elected.  Also, ICON provides many informative and educational workshops and organizes a service fair that all districts participate in.  ICON also allows some time for sightseeing in the area and offers many opportunities for fellowship.  ICON really helps Circle K members to see the big picture of the organization they are a part of.

LeaderShape
Leadership programs focused primarily on young men and women in all settings of the LeaderShape Institute; to facilitate their application through follow-up advisory support to participants and sponsors; and to be a catalyst in expanding leadership programs centered on leading with integrity to new audiences.

Others
Other conferences and conventions include Tri-K Conference, K-East Conference, Kiwanis District Convention, Key Club Convention, and Kiwanis Mid-Winter Conference.
