| University
of North Alabama The University of
North Alabama is located in the city of Florence, which is located in
the northwest corner of Alabama. In addition to its rich history,
Florence has the advantage of being situated on two lakes formed by
Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) dams on the Tennessee River, which
makes the city an important point for anglers, boaters, and water
sports enthusiasts.
UNA occupies a beautiful
campus on 130 acres in a residential section of Florence, Alabama.
Florence, located just north of the Tennessee River, is the largest
city in a four-city area that includes Tuscumbia, Sheffield, and Muscle
Shoals, all located south of the river. The university’s
initial campus facility master plan was developed by the world-famous
Frederick Law Olmsted architectural firm who designed New York City's
Central Park.
UNA has 150 student organizations,
eight residence halls and more than 6,000 students. The UNA Lions
football team is the only team in NCAA history to win three straight
national championships, and the volleyball team is a perennial title
contender. The school campus is home to our lion mascots, Leo III and
Una, and also to our school president, Dr. Bill Cale, who lives with
his wife, BJ, in a house adjacent to the lion habitat.
UNA
Circle K is sponsored by the Florence Kiwanis Club, and our Kiwanis
advisor is Sam Brentnall, a past Kiwanis Club president. Our club
sponsors several projects each year including spirit booster bags for
UNA athletic teams, UNICEF trick-or-treating, Boys & Girls Club
Easter Egg Hunt, Support Our Soldiers Card Drive, Operation Christmas
Child and visiting Birmingham Children’s Hospital.
